[Today there is a ~~red mummy~~man dressed all in red wandering through the halls of the dressing room with a general look of confusion on his face. Must be a newcomer.

I suppose it's only fortunate that I arrived prior to the experiments, though that doesn't necessarily change the results, much less the experiences of those in the Garden.

Heartless and Nobodies... they certainly weren't what I had anticipated.

They weren't what any of us had expected.

Even so, I apologize for whatever I and my colleagues may have done in the aftermath. Rest assured, I have no intention to continue, no matter how many times Xehanort has attempted to persuade me during my stay here.

Then it remains to simply convince him of the folly of his ways. Should such a thing be possible, that is.

Perhaps it is. Within this world are duplicates, some from realities far different from our own, and among them is a young Xehanort who does not wish to perform such studies. Though it may be difficult, it may be possible to persuade the Xehanort we're more familiar with to share the same views.

I'm hardly a stranger to 'difficult', Ienzo.

Oh, I never said that you were. You are-- or were, I suppose, the most renowned philosopher and ruler of Radiant Garden, after all. Nevertheless, I can't help but worry. Though this world has yet to fall, and chances are that its keyhole has been sealed, should he find the proper equipment to perform the studies on his own, why... I'd rather not think of the consequences.

If the world has been sealed he shouldn't be unable to throw it into darkness like he did Radiant Garden. He himself my end up destroyed by his creation, but that's a lesser concern.

True, but that doesn't mean the consequences will be any less disastrous. It's entirely possible that he could experiment on the residents here once he tires of studying the heartless.

Though I must admit, what he told me recently was rather fascinating... it related directly to his missing memories.

That eventuality can be dealt with if and when it comes up. One thing at a time, after all.

What did he have to say?

A valid point. For now I suppose it's best to remain alert, perhaps attempt to sway him.

As for the memories... well, he mentioned inheriting a great power from a master, a life of conflict, and the loss of a loved one as well as the "erasure" of a friend. It was incredibly vague, yet strange.

I don't think I'll be anything but alert here.

Strange indeed. Especially since he made no previous mention of it. I was under the impression that he remembered nothing at all of his former life.

Understandable, particularly considering the presence of heartless and Nobodies.

Yes, it is a bit surprising, but at the time of his explanation a strange substance had filled the air-- a sort of truth serum, as it were; perhaps this is the cause, or it could be that the memories were merely suppressed, not entirely missing.

Heartless I can deal with well enough. [Despite being technically not a fighter.]

Perhaps a mixture of the two? Partially forgotten and partially something he strove to forget? [A sigh.] I suppose I'd have to ask him to be sure.

It's entirely possible. If his life were as conflicting as he implied, then I can see why he would wish to forget. It could also be that his arrival in this world helped to awaken his memories, so to speak; I've seen stranger things, honestly.

He was the one to suggest research into how the heart affected memory, if I'm remembering correctly. But was his intention to forget further or to remember?

It's difficult to say; Xehanort is clever. For all we know he may have been acting the entire time.

Sadly, that is a very definite possibility.

One that must be taken into account, more importantly. After all, Xehanort only spoke of this during the effects of the truth gas; it's likely that he won't be near as open now that it's no longer in effect.

Given that he never spoke of it before, I would be forced to assume that you are right in that regard.

I suppose an option would be to surreptitiously expose him to more of the serum; it is in decent supply in one of the laboratories.

True, and it would be difficult to accomplish successfully; Xehanort is intelligent, after all. Incredibly so.

Indeed he is. Perhaps if we were to recreate the conditions that first caused the effect...?

I'm not entirely sure what had occurred, but my assumption would be that, just as they had occurred a year prior, someone may have accidentally broken one of the bottles with the serum inside, leading to its spread in gaseous form.
