[seated on a chair in the middle of an otherwise empty white room, elbows resting on his knees and roughly half his face hidden by his folded hands. he's staring pensively at the far wall, and his form is flickering madly.]

K-Kai?

[glances over, offering a tired smile.]

Hi, Sora.

[his voice sounds a bit distorted as well.]

Hiya! Long time no see, mister. Where've you been hiding at? ....and what's with the flickering thing? [is all worried now.]

I've been around. Guess we've just kept missing each other.

[straightens and shakes his head a bit.]

No clue.

[If you happen to feel someone's eyes on you, that'd be Roxas staring with a mixed expression of concern. He's at a loss for words at the moment.]

[looks away from the wall and to the door, trying to smile like nothing's wrong.]

Hey.

That must be it.

[headtilt.] Are you going home? Maybe you're being called back.

[Suddenly frowns hard.]

What's going on? You're not going home too, are you?!

I doubt it.

[chuckles quietly, leaning back in the chair and glancing upward.]

"Too", Roxas?

[straightens and looks over at him properly.]

[Completely ignores that.]

What's going on, Kai?

I have no idea. It started about an hour ago.

[looks down at his hands, watching them flicker.]

[Sighs and walks in, sitting down next to him.]

Did something trigger it, do you think?

Nothing I can think of.

[lets out a small laugh.]

I was just getting a drink.

Is there something important that wants you? I know you want to go home. I'd miss you if you went though.

[Glances at him and smiles just slightly, shaking his head.]

Sometimes I really hate this place.

You know, I... don't know if I want to go home. At least, I don't as much as I used to. I've got family here now, you know? People I'm looking after and people I care for. You'd definitely be one of the people I'd miss, even if we haven't hung out lately.

Same, but I wouldn't have met most of the people I consider friends and family without it.

[looks up at the ceiling.]

I'll miss this place, if I do end up getting sent home. I'll miss the family I've made.

I feel the same. Let's hope this is just a fluke, and that you're only flickering for a little bit.

[Nods a bit.]

I know... I definitely missed it last time I left.

But I know you miss home too..

I'm... not sure how much of home I really miss anymore. I mean, I miss my parents, and I miss my Destiny Islands friends, but I was never as close to them as I was Riku and Sora. I miss Sora, because I'm pretty sure she disappeared a while back, but I've got my Riku, and all the friends I've made here, and... I don't want to leave Axel.

I'll cross mine too. Should I go find various good luck charms and spread them around? ...no wait, that won't work. Wonder if I can....[mumbles distractedly]

[Sighs again, but after a while cracks a smile.]

I wonder if that chainsaw could magically cut a doorway back here.

[raises an eyebrow.]
