[ There's a sudden sound of glass breaking and the quiet hiss of pale pink smoke as it floods out from under a doorway-- and then Riku's stumbling out, coughing into her hand. ]

[immediately stops walking by, moving to her worriedly.]

You okay?

[shakes her head, shutting the door and leaning against it. she doesn't have enough breath to speak, unfortunately, but Kai might notice something off about her balance.]

[...yeah, noticing that. a lot. what the fuck.]

[sorry, is the complete lack of darkness throwing him off? it's got her in a state of shock.]

What did you do?

[completely flabbergasted. this is just weird.]

[looks at him, eyes wide.]

I didn't do anything.

But you're...

[trails off, not sure what to say.]

[doesn't know either, so she steps away from the door, opening it. inside is a normal dead-end hall filled with potions and ethers. there's a bottle on the floor, broken in two, and distinctly heart-shaped.]

...oh jeez.

[stares at the bottle.]

[stare away. Riku's making herself busy staring into space.]

There's... no darkness in you. Not even a drop.

[shakes her head. looks like she might be sick.]

C'mon, you should sit down.

[takes her by the arm to lead her to the nearest room with chairs.]

[lets herself be lead easily, still trying to get a grip on herself.]

... Am I dreaming?

No, you're not.

[directs her to a nice comfy chair in a quiet room.]

This isn't possible.

[pretty much flops down on that chair, letting her arms hang limply.]

You're right.

[sits down nearby, trying to figure out what to do.]

But it's also the dressing room.

*stops before he runs into you, carrying a basket of laundry*

... whoa!

[runs both hands through her hair. she still looks completely shocked.]

I don't-- How do I fix this?

[jerks back, keeping her hand over her mouth and staring at Ri, who will likely notice the total absence of darkness in her.]

*does notice the lack! and it is so startling that he thinks you're a totally different person*

Hey, are you alright, Riku?

[That. was kind of out of nowhere.]

You okay?

[doesn't blame him; she has to concentrate to make sure this is who she thinks it is. to the question she shakes her head, looking like she's... quite possibly in shock, actually.]

[continues to cough for a minute, shaking her head.]

No.

I don't know.

[frowns, very carefully prodding at the unfamiliar light with his own.]

It's probably temporary, anyway.
