performance; act 2

[someone's cooking up a storm in the kitchen -- a pancake storm, that is. the griddle is nice and hot, and he's mixed up several big bowls of different types of pancake batter: regular, chocolate chip, blueberry ...]

[three plates are positioned on the counter directly behind him, ready for stacks and stacks of pancakes! Sora's busily stirring more batter while he waits.]

[he realizes after a minute he forgot something in the room, so he's responsible and turns off the griddle before running back, and frowning once he sees what Sora's doing.]

-- Hey, are you okay?

*looks up to smile at you, but realizes he may have moved too fast, and is like a lightning bolt to the bathroom, shutting the door and hurling into the toilet*

[those pancakes can totally wait -- Sora trails behind, after fetching something to ease that tummy. he has a seat on the floor against the wall, frowning.]

*he just sits and breathes for a minute, before turning to look at you*

... you've probably figured out what's going on, huh.

*smiles and runs a hand through his hair*

Ah -- Too much spaghetti and meatballs last night?

[forgive him, he fails so hard at girls.]

*grins and wobbles, sitting against the wall next to you*

Well, not quite little bug. I'm pregnant.

What? Really? You really are?!

[stares at Sora, wide-eyed.]

*nods and wraps his arms around his belly*

Yeah.

[cracks into a huge grin, scooting closer for a hug!]

*hugs you tight, grateful for the affection*

I'm really excited. But... I also wanted you to know that you're no less special to Ri and me, even though we'll be having a new little one. I don't want you to feel... pushed aside or anything. We love you more than there are stars in the sky.

[rubs the back of his head for a minute, in thought.]

I don't mind. I got to hog you guys for a long time; I don't mind sharing. Besides, I get to make really weird pancakes for you again, right?

Yeah! And chocolate covered chocolate tuna cupcakes!

[makes a face, but he's laughing.]

That's a pretty hefty order. It sounds like something Dad'd be really good at making.

Actually, he goes pale when I mention them. But who knows. When I was pregnant with Rikka, I craved burgers and corn on the cob and PB&Js. And you notice he loves burgers and PB&Js. But maybe all kids love those.

[hungry dog peeking into the kitchen. it's kind of sucky to be stuck like this on Valentine's Day, but it's not like he's technically got a significant other or anything.]

Speaking of breakfast, has Rikka eaten yet? It's my turn to cook.

[Sora has absolutely no qualms about feeding dogs pancakes! he sets his bowl aside and beckons Kai over.]

Here boy!

[barks and wags, trotting over happily.]

[crouches down and scratches his ears.]

Where'd you come from, huh? Y'hungry?

[seasides]

[read the tag on his collar, Sora~. closes his eyes, pleased by the scratching, and wuffs softly.]

[his hand eventually does brush over the tag, and he runs a thumb over it -- then cracks up laughing.]

Only you, Kai. Want some pancakes?

[seasides]

[nods and barks again, sitting down in front of him. that's a big yes.]

Alright. I don't think I should give you chocolate chip pancakes this time though, okay?

[sets a plate at Kai's paws; he's never had to flip pancakes on the ground before -- well, intentionally, anyway.]

[lets out a huff that's a good deal like a laugh and nods again.]
