[there's a child, no more than ten, standing with his back to the wall. he's dressed in a plain white shirt and shorts, looking rather like he stepped out of a hospital or, perhaps, a laboratory. he's not making a sound, and his face is more or less blank, save for just a hint of something like curiosity.]
