[if one were to venture into the library they would find books scattered, at least one of the couches scratched up, and the general area in disarray. It seems that Simba's been exploring, and, as he's not used to man-made objects, he's been using them as, well...target practice. Currently he's hiding behind one of the couches, crouched down as if stalking prey. Better be careful. He does have claws.]

--oh goodness!

[enters the library, eyes wide when she sees the mess.]

Who-?

[he's slinking around, just kinda watching. Looks like another one of those hairless baboons from before... which interests him.]

[puts a hand to her forehead with a sigh.]

Well I suppose I'd best start cleaning up.

[starts collecting the scattered books.]

[...he's curious now. Coming up from behind]

What're you doing?

[jumps, startled, and whirls around with a few books clutched to her chest. she looks around for a moment, confused, until she realizes the voice was coming from down- oh hello talking lion.]

Putting things away.

Oh... what are these things? Some kinda weird leaves?

No, they're books.

[starts collecting them again.]

There are stories written in them.

Stories? Dad tells me those all the time, but I dunno what books are. How d'you get stories into 'em?

Well it's- it's like this.

[sets the books down and finds a loose piece of paper, as well as a pen. she quickly writes 'hello' onto the paper and shows him.]

See that? People can look at that, and see the word 'hello'. It's something they learn from a very young age. Books have entire stories inside them that people can interpret through the words.

You can see words?

[he sorta tilts his head]

That's really weird... I don't think anyone in the Pridelands did that.

Well, the words are kind of like a special picture- do you have those back home?

*just. stares.*

Uh, I think so. I know there's this Baboon who makes 'em.

[he's kinda staring, too]

[draws a quick picture of a lion on the page.]

Really? I didn't know Uncle Scar had any kids.

Why not? There's lotsa lions here. Dad, Uncle Scar, and uh...some strangers.

Really? I haven't seen any other lions around lately...

I just saw one. He says he's my 'cousin'... I wonder if Nala's here somewhere.

So looks like you've got some family here, huh. Who's this Nala pers- er, lion?

She's my best friend. Zazu says we're gonna get 'married', but that's just gross.

Well, I look at something, then I use this to make markings on the paper.

[wiggles the pen a bit, then writes out 'lion' next to the drawing.]

The markings I just made, those lines and squiggles? They also mean lion. It's like a different sort of picture.
